Emperor's Challenge

Saturday, August 9, 2025! The Emperor’s Challenge is a half marathon on Babcock Mountain, located in the Tumbler Ridge UNESCO Global Geopark. The total distance is 20.3 km, with the summit at 10.5 km (1865m elevation). The total elevation gain is 2637 feet (804 m). A kids race is also available, with a 2 km and 4 km distances, with some elevation gain (80 ft and 340 ft, 25m and 103m ). IMPORTANT NOTE: As mining activities have commenced at the Quintette mine site, some areas of the Emperor's Challenge route are within the mine management area. This will NOT affect the race route on August 9th, but due to safety concerns, access is not permitted to the full EC route prior to August 9th. WNMS is recommending training runs take place on the Bergeron Cliffs and Bergeron Falls trails.
